  Oh, yes, that! I thought I should comment on that; I wonder how the World Cup LOC could have made such unpardonable blonder, presenting the National flag of Niger in place of the flag of Nigeria. Every kid knows the difference, don't they? Three thumbs down, Brazil!!!

Boko Haram: 750 Churches Razed So Far

  The Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria, PFN, has revealed that no fewer than 750 churches have burnt down by Boko Haram terrorist so far, even as it called on the Federal Government to consider paying monetary compensation to the families of those who lost their lives in the related attacks. “We have lost at least 750 churches in the North to attacks by terrorists,” the PFN National President, Rev. felix Omobude stated. He called on the government to grant swift approval, so that the burnt churches could be rebuilt without delay. “Our worry of late is that churches that are making efforts to rebuild are facing difficulties,” said Omobude, also calling on the authorities to step up securities around troubled spots in the North.

Lagos 2015: Ikorodu Stakeholders Insist On Governorship Ticket

  Ikorodu elders and political stakeholders have called on the All Progressives Congress, APC, to zone the 2015 Governorship ticket to the area, even as they have begun an internal screening process for top aspirants from Ikorodu district. Speaking at a rally in Ikorodu yesterday, the Odofin of Ikorodu, Chief Ademule Shotobi, said it was the turn of Ikorodu District to produce the governor of the State. In his words: “It is the turn of Ikorodu Division, and the awareness among all indigenes is that nobody can short-change us again.” Candidates from Ikorodu who are already being pushed forward for the forth-coming governorship election are Mr. Jimi Agbaje, Senator Ganiyu Solomon and Tunde Gbadamosi.

FIFA World Cup: ECOWAS Charges Nigeria, Others, To Excel

  The Economic Community of West African States, ECOWAS, has urged Africa's representatives to the ongoing World Cup in Brazil to do their best and make the continent proud. In a a goodwill message signed by its spokesperson, Sunny Ugoh, the Commission tasked the African teams to surpass the quarter-finals record of African teams at the Mundial. “With hard work, discipline and dedication, African flag bearers could bring the coveted trophy to the African soil for the first time in the World Cup history,” the statement read.     READ MORE:  http://news.naij.com/68123.html

  The All Progressives Congress last night elected as its National Chairman, a former governor of Edo State in the person of Chief John Odigie-Oyegun. The party finally settled for Odigie-Oyegun, after due consultations with party leaders and discussions with contending forces to persuade them to support his choice as new national chairman of the party. It is believed that the national leader of the party, former Governor Bola Tinubu of Lagos State, played a key role in the emergence of Odigie-Oyegun as the new APC national chairman. Two of Odigie-Oyegun's main contenders, former governor of Bayelsa State, Timipre Sylva, said to be the choice of candidate of APC governors and Chief Sam Jaja, had earlier in the day stepped down for Odigie-Oyegun. CHIBOK ABDUCTION: Shocker: Only Girls Who Get Pregnant May Regain Freedom, Says OBJ

  Former Nigerian President, Olusegun Obasanjo, who has made several attempts of his own to find solutions to the menace of Boko Haram, has said that many of the kidnapped Chibok girls will never return home, and only those who become pregnant in the forest have the best chance of being freed. While in a chat with BBC Hausa Service, Obasanjo said: "I believe that some of them will never return. "Only those that would later get pregnant and the sect members would find it difficult to cater for the babies in the forest might be released." The former president said he has the means to communicate with Boko Haram, but that the Federal Government has not permitted him to negotiate with the terrorists.
