A haunting video posted by Austrian influencer Stefanie Pieper singing "Forget Me" has taken on a tragic new meaning after the 31-year-old makeup artist was found dead, her body stuffed in a suitcase and buried in a forest.
The glamorous content creator was reported missing on November 23 after she failed to show up for a scheduled photoshoot. A concerned photographer went to her apartment in Graz, Austria, where he was met by her on-off boyfriend, 31-year-old Peter M. Police were called after neighbors reported hearing "loud noises" from the apartment the previous night.
Investigation and Chilling Discoveries
The investigation moved quickly. Police found Pieper's phone in a nearby bush, where they accessed her final chilling WhatsApp message from the early hours of November 23. She wrote to a friend about a "creep in the stairwell" and a "dark figure," describing her fear as she returned home to walk her Golden Retriever, Marlow. After that, she fell silent.
Her ex-boyfriend, Peter M., was arrested the next day while trying to cross the border into neighboring Slovenia. After being extradited to Austria, he allegedly confessed to the crime and led police to a forest in Slovenia. There, authorities discovered Pieper's body inside a buried suitcase. An autopsy confirmed she "had been subjected to violence" before her death.
Two of the suspect's family members were also briefly detained but were released following his alleged confession and the discovery of the body.
A Poignant Final Post
The case has drawn widespread attention, in part due to a video Pieper had pinned to the top of her Instagram profile. Filmed in 2023, it shows her emotionally singing along to Lewis Capaldi's song "Forget Me." The lyrics—"I'm not ready, to find out you know how to forget me"—have resonated deeply with her over 42,000 followers, who have since flooded her account with tributes.
