EXCLUSIVE: Another Mother Accuses “Cult” Pastor Tobi of Isolating Teenage Daughter in London “Trap House”
A London-based pastor with a history of explosive scandals is facing fresh allegations of manipulation and exploitation, this time from a distraught mother who claims he has targeted her 19-year-old daughter.
The woman has come forward with shocking claims against Pastor Tobi Adegboyega, the founder of the church formerly known as SPAC Nation and now called Nxtion Family. In an emotional account shared with Nigerian commentator Solomon Buchi, she alleges the pastor is using a key associate to recruit and control young women, leading them into isolation, massive debt, and dangerous living situations.
“He Took My Child”: A Mother’s Desperate Allegations
The mother, who has pleaded for anonymity for fear of driving her daughter further away, paints a disturbing picture of control and influence. She claims her daughter was recruited through another church member identified as Mariam, who is alleged to be a recruiter of young girls. Once involved, the mother says, her daughter was encouraged to sever ties with her family.
The situation escalated, according to the mother, when her 19-year-old was persuaded to leave the family home in London and move into what she described as a church-linked “trap house.” In a bombshell allegation, she further claims her daughter was manipulated into taking on a staggering debt of **£350,000**. The distraught mother ended her plea by urging the public to independently investigate the pastor, insisting that the swirling rumours about him are true.
A Pastor’s Notorious Past: From Luxury Cars to Courtroom Drama
These new accusations land on soil already fertile with controversy for Pastor Tobi Adegboyega. His church, SPAC Nation, was officially shut down by the UK High Court in 2022 for severe financial mismanagement, failing to account for £1.87 million in funds. Charity regulators had earlier found “serious misconduct and/or mismanagement.”
Multiple investigations, including a major BBC Panorama documentary, have for years linked the church to allegations of pressuring vulnerable young members into taking out loans, committing benefit fraud, and even selling their blood to raise money for the church. The church’s network of residential “safe houses” was at the centre of these claims, with former members and reporters alleging they became venues for exploitation and abuse.
Pastor Tobi himself became a symbol of this stark contrast, frequently flaunting an extravagant lifestyle replete with designer clothes, expensive jewellery, and luxury cars like a Lamborghini, while his young congregation reportedly faced hardship. His legal troubles deepened recently when a UK immigration tribunal dismissed his appeal to remain in the country, ruling he had overstayed a visitor’s visa since 2005 and exaggerated his contributions to the community.
Who is “Mariam,” the Alleged Recruiter?
The “Mariam” named by the mother is believed to be Mariam Mbula (also known as Mariam Mola), a senior figure within the pastor’s circle and a convicted fraudster. A separate BBC documentary, Catch Her If You Can, detailed her fraudulent schemes, and she has been previously accused of financially controlling young women in one of the church’s safe houses.
Despite the dissolution of SPAC Nation and its rebranding, Pastor Tobi Adegboyega has continued his ministry. He has consistently denied all past allegations of wrongdoing. This latest story from a frightened mother, however, ensures the spotlight of scrutiny remains firmly fixed on him and his operations.
