The Nigeria Police Force has taken control of a prominent hotel and event arena in Kebbi State owned by former Attorney-General of the Federation, Abubakar Malami (SAN).
The move follows an ongoing investigation by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) into allegations of money laundering and abuse of office against the senior lawyer.
Malami was previously invited by the EFCC for questioning in late November. He had earlier raised alarms about what he called "threatening actions" by the agency, claiming operatives raided his offices and private residences in Abuja and Kebbi.
The takeover of his commercial properties marks a significant escalation in the case. Critics, including a former presidential aide, have accused Malami of hypocrisy and undermining the rule of law during his tenure, urging him to cooperate with investigators instead of attempting to "blackmail" the EFCC leadership.
