Former Sokoto State Governor and Speaker of the House of Representatives, Aminu Tambuwal, has responded to claims of a northern conspiracy against President Bola Tinubu, stating his opposition is based on national, not regional, politics.
In a public interview, Tambuwal made it clear he is not part of any clandestine northern plot to unseat the president. However, he declared his unequivocal commitment to seeing the Tinubu administration and the All Progressives Congress (APC) removed from power through the 2027 general elections.
"I'm not among some people in the North coming together to say that Tinubu must go," Tambuwal stated. "I'm involved in the national coalition that there should be a change of guard in Aso Rock through a constitutional democratic process."
The former governor linked his recent questioning by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) to his growing role in opposition politics. When asked if the investigation was politically motivated, he responded, "Yes," suggesting federal authorities are "worried about [his] activities."
Tambuwal, who is active with the opposition African Democratic Party, framed his objective in stark terms: "It's because I'm fully involved in a process that would democratically and lawfully, by the grace of God, send this government out of office. [I'm] 100 percent committed to it."
He concluded with a firm declaration: "By the grace of God we'll chase this government out of power, with the help of God and Nigerians."
