Israel’s military chief has issued a strong warning that the country is prepared to attack its enemies anywhere necessary, including on distant fronts, in a clear signal of an expanded military posture.
Speaking at a ceremony on Sunday, Israel Defense Forces (IDF) Chief of Staff Lt. Gen. Eyal Zamir framed the ongoing conflict as part of a long-term strategic struggle with Iran. He described the confrontation as the "longest and most complex war" in Israel's history, moving beyond isolated clashes to a broader regional conflict.
Zamir accused Iran of creating a "ring of strangulation" by financing, arming, and directing proxy forces around Israel's borders. He stated Tehran's ultimate goal is to weaken and destroy the Israeli state through coordinated military pressure.
In his remarks, which have been widely seen as a veiled reference to potential action against Iran itself, Zamir emphasized that the IDF is ready to operate both close to home and far beyond Israel's immediate neighborhood. The statement underscores a shift toward a more proactive defense strategy, where Israel reserves the right to strike threats at their source.
