Multiple sources report that President Bola Tinubu has presented fleets of luxury vehicles to state political coordinators for the 2027 election campaign through a new group, the 'Renewed Hope Ambassadors,' even as Nigeria faces escalating nationwide insecurity.
Amid a severe national security crisis marked by kidnappings and violent attacks, President Bola Tinubu has reportedly distributed fleets of new vehicles to state coordinators for his 2027 re-election campaign, according to multiple sources.
The sources indicate that each state coordinator for the newly formed "Renewed Hope Ambassadors" received a set of vehicles on Monday, including a Toyota Land Cruiser, a Toyota Hilux, and a Hummer bus. The group is being spearheaded and coordinated by Imo State Governor Hope Uzodimma, who was recently appointed by President Tinubu as the "Renewed Hope Ambassador" and Director-General for party mobilization.
Alongside the vehicles, state coordinators were reportedly instructed to contribute one billion Naira each to the group's campaign fund for the 2027 election.
The revelations have sparked criticism over timing and priorities. A source expressed dismay to SaharaReporters, stating, “Despite the insecurity in the country, they still went ahead to present three different cars to each state for the 2027 campaign — while terrorists are busy kidnapping people every day.”
The distribution occurs as Nigeria grapples with daily reports of abductions and violence that have made travel unsafe in many regions, raising questions about the allocation of resources.
The presidential appointment of Governor Uzodimma was formally announced last week by Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, who stated the governor would be responsible for "evangelising the Tinubu administration's programme" and ensuring strategic coordination across the party.
No official statement has been released by the Presidency to confirm or deny the vehicle distribution. The report highlights the tension between early political mobilization for the next election cycle and the urgent, unmet security needs of the populace.
